Founder bios
Max Bottega - Italian-born Max is a Graphics Swiss Army Knife, with over 20 years in Art Direction and Animation production in video games. He’s worked across 20+ titles including Assetto Corsa, and most recently Cyberpunk 2077 as Lead Artist. In 2019 he decided to formally study Game Design at Vancouver Film School. Now returned to Europe, he lives in Hungary building Mac n Cheese Games, his second studio. He’s also an avid miniature painter, which shows in the care he takes for his game art.
Maaroof Fakhri - Originally from Australia, Maaroof has built gamified educational experiences for 15 years working across the globe including Scotland, Denmark and now Switzerland where he lives. In 2015 he joined Labster as a founding team member, a Danish company building game-like science learning experiences for schools, chaired by Unity Founder David Helgason, and grew it into a €600m company. He decided to form Mac n Cheese Games after reigniting his childhood passion for video games during the long days at home during COVID-19.
Nicolas Delgado - Nico is a highly successful indie developer and creator of successful titles Swallow the Sea and Brutal Orchestra, both amassing a large dedicated fan base. He loves the intersection between Game Design and Programming, where creativity meets code. He’s won multiple awards for his game projects, including the Unity 2019 Best Project award for The Cluckening (together with Max), and Best Game at VFS Haunted game jam for Squidaddle. Nico lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.
Nico and Max first met in 2019 at Vancouver Film School (VFS) in their Game Design Masters, where they, together with their team, won the 2019 Unity best project award for The Cluckening. But as COVID-19 struck they spent some time apart - Max went to be Lead Artist on Cyberpunk 2077 and Nico released his indie title, Brutal Orchestra. Now, the band’s back together with the addition of Maaroof - a former colleague of Max from the education games sector. They spent 5+ years as the founding team leading Labster, an edtech company backed by Unity Founder David Helgason, Northzone and a16z. After growing it from pre-seed to €500m, they decided to create a company focused purely on finely crafted games. So it was time for the next adventure and Mac n Cheese Games was formed in late 2021. They recruited some of their former-VFS award-winning team members, and got started on their first title under the new studio.
