Thanks to virtual reality, you can literally immerse yourself in the territory of the sixteenth century and rediscover a famous legend linked to the Castello Visconteo.

We are proud to announce the triple project that has seen us busy throughout the last year, created in collaboration with the City of Locarno. This is the virtual reconstruction of the Visconti Castle of Locarno and the surrounding environment as it might have appeared in the 16th century, divided into a more informative part (usable through the virtual reality viewer) and two more playful ones (in the form of free 3D exploration and of visual novels).

In the next few weeks (as soon as possible, trusting in a positive evolution of the health situation), the public of the Castle will in fact be able to wear virtual reality viewers and immerse themselves in this experience that will surely fascinate and intrigue all fans of our history. The panorama seen from a tower (no longer existing) of the Castle will give, with a careful historical setting, albeit fanciful here and there, the impression of finding oneself in the manor as it appeared in the sixteenth century, on the shore of the lake, overlooking the harbour, with some sandy islets where today we find the delta of the Maggia river. In this way, it will be possible to discover numerous "points of interest" accompanied by historical and current images and brief information texts on the main monuments of Locarno.

Parallel to this virtual immersion we have developed a Free Roaming experience, where it is possible to walk in the castle (like a modern 3D video game) and a short narrative video game, in the form of a Visual Novel, inspired by the novella of the "Beggar of Locarno" by Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811). Both can be tried at the special stations at the Castle. The intent is to offer a new and innovative way to approach the monumental building and the Castello Visconteo Museum.
