Fourteen supposed criminals are forced to take part in an anti-death game: To avoid the death penalty, they must prove they can get along — even if their own lives are on the line. Discover the motives of the other participants and help them avoid killing each other.
Artificial Selection is a multi-route mystery visual novel with escape room puzzles set in a distant future where the death penalty is commonplace.
Saeva, a socially anxious teenager, is roped into an experimental rehabilitation program for criminals to prove their worth and potential for improvement. This would be an unprecedented opportunity, if it weren't for one simple fact: He can't remember committing a crime.Grappling with his supposed amnesia, he gets to know 13 other "Sinners" that are stuck in the program with him.
Together, they must overcome various challenges that demonstrate their capacity for cooperation, such as solving escape rooms, or finding common ground at the end of a heated debate. These segments are interactive, requiring the player to solve puzzles and choosing the right arguments to attack or support. There is a heavy focus on the bond between the characters, and how it develops. Each character has multiple romance options (both male and female), but if the player chooses, they can opt for strong friendships instead.
Each character has their own motives and beliefs, and each route delves into various philosophical and political themes this world provides — while slowly unraveling the greater mystery behind it all. (Source: Presskit)
